This simple philosophy has guided Trev Ng, Founder of Sonny Bagel Shop and a proud TARCian, through 12 years of entrepreneurship.

The DAR team was delighted to reconnect with Trev and revisit his entrepreneurial journey, which began in 2014 with his first brand, Optimist Coffee. His journey even crossed paths with TAR UMT through a feature in Berita Kampus — a small chapter that marked the beginning of a lasting connection with his alma mater.

Fast forward 12 years, Trev has gone on to build his fourth brand, Sonny Bagel Shop — Malaysia’s first wood-fired bagel shop, bringing his passion for good food and entrepreneurship into a new chapter.

Throughout his journey, Trev has learned that challenges are an inseparable part of building something meaningful. Yet, with courage and the right mindset, every obstacle can become an opportunity to grow. As he puts it, once you find a way to solve a challenge, it no longer has the power to hold you back.

His story is a reminder that entrepreneurship is not just about building businesses, but about staying passionate, embracing challenges, and continuing to move forward.
