From Colleagues to TARCian Friends: A Meaningful Homecoming

Sometimes, the connections we make after graduation lead us back to where our journey began.

For Esther Chan Yee Teng, a 2015 graduate from the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities (FSAH) with a Bachelor of Public Relations (Honours), her TAR UMT connection with her friend began long after their student days.

The two did not know each other while studying at TAR UMT and were not from the same batch. It was only after meeting in the working world that they got to know each other and discovered that they shared something in common — they were both TARCians.

Years later, they returned to TAR UMT together for a visit, turning an unexpected connection made through work into a meaningful homecoming. Walking through the campus once again gave them the opportunity to revisit the place that had shaped their individual journeys, this time experiencing it together as friends.

Their story is a reminder that the TARCian connection can happen in unexpected ways. Even when our paths do not cross during our university years, the bond of being a TARCian can bring us together long after graduation.

A journey that began separately, connected through work, and eventually led them back to TAR UMT together.
